MU.LAB User Guide Modular Plug Area

The Modular Plug Area shows you and let you edit the very basic connections between the various plugins and Racks in your session.

This is how it works:

  • You can click a plug box to focus it.
  • You can drag a plug box to move it.
  • You can even drag a plug box into a Rack slot if you want. This is the same as the "Put Into Rack" function in the plugs context menu.
  • You can doubleclick a plug box to open its editor. Once a plugin editor is open, you can also use Esc to close it.

  • You can right-click a plug box for its context menu, e.g. if you want to replace or remove a plugin.
  • You can drag a line from 1 jack to another so to connect them. Note that only jacks of the same type can be connected, and only Output <-> Input.
  • You can drag a line from 1 jack to a plug box. Then MU.LAB will automatically connect it to the proper jack. Or popup a menu if there are multiple options.
  • You can right-click a jack for its context menu, e.g. if you want to delete a connection.
  • Right-click pops up a context menu with various options: Add Plugin, Auto-Arrange, ...
  • You can press TAB to switch between the Racks view and the Modular Plug Area.
  • You can control a Mixer Strip or Send Gain with a MIDI controller:

    • Right-click the plugin, and choose Assign MIDI Controller
    • Then tweak the MIDI controlller you want to use
    • Then choose which parameter you want to control from the popup menu. In the case of a send, the only option is "Send Gain".

Note: Make sure the Mixer Strip or Send Gain is connected to the Audio Output in some way, via other plugins, that's ok. As a plugin that is not connected, is not processed.
