MuLab 3 Tutorial Using A Multi-Out VSTi Within A Rack

Imagine we're playing a drum pattern on Waldorf Attack with a BassDrum (BD) SnareDrum (SD) and HiHats (HH).

We want the BD+HH to sound sec, the SD with a touch of reverb.

Put a MUX in Rack A, slot 1, open its editor, goto its deep editor.

Insert Attack, Insert 2 Mixer Strips, Insert a Reverb.

Make sure Attack outs the BD+HH to its out 1, the SD to out 2.

Then connect things as on this picture:

Now you'll be able to change the volume and pan of the BD+HH separately of the SD, and the SD will have some reverb on it.

And all this together goes to the MUX output, which then goes further in Rack A, and so finally to the main audio out.

What comes out of the MUX is a 'Attack submix'. Of cours you can make that submix as simple or complex as you want. You could even create a submix within a submix, and so on.

And you could also save this setup as a separate MUX patch file in one of your user libraries so you can use this Attack submix setup whenever you want:

Many creative possibilities

NB: Note that you can also plug-in VSTs directly into the Modular Area and connect its outputs there!
